Breland, owner of Breland Companies and Smart Living, LLC. has developed more than 30,000 single/multi-family homes as well as office buildings, high-rise condominiums, retail centers, and self storage facilities throughout Alabama and the Southeast since 1975. Louis is a serial entrepreneur and has sold three of his companies to New York Stock Exchange companies. At the time Louis sold Breland Homes, it was ranked the 38th largest homebuilder in the United States by Builder Magazine.
Founded in 1980 by internationally famous designers, Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, DPZ’s goal is to develop and grow thriving communities. Their focus is on cities, towns and neighborhoods, which encourage walking, diversity and complexity. As the face of ‘New Urbanism’, Andres Duany is the Master Plan Designer for Town Madison. The universal principles of the New Urbanism movement are to promote the creation of real communities with pedestrian-oriented, transit-ready neighborhoods. These neighborhoods encourage mixed uses, and allow the landscape to shape their streets. These principles project a sustainable quality of life that competes with the conventional suburban dream.
